Uses
In the treatment of male pattern baldness, minoxidil solution and foam are used to promote hair growth. It is not used to treat frontal baldness or a receding hairline in men. The foam and 2% minoxidil solution are also used to promote hair growth in women who have thinning hair. Minoxidil is a vasodilator, which is a type of medication. It is unknown how minoxidil promotes hair growth. This medication should not be used if you have sudden/patchy hair loss, unexplained hair loss (for example, if you have no family history of hair loss), or if you have hair loss after giving birth. If you are under the age of 18, do not use this product.
How to use
Before using this product, read and follow all instructions on the product package. If you have any concerns, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
Before applying the medication, clean and dry the affected area. You can use this product on damp hair. Fill the applicator with 1 millilitre of medication (to the 1 millilitre line) or use 20 drops to apply the solution. Part your hair in the thinning area and apply the solution evenly to the affected scalp area. Rub in gently. Allow the solution to completely dry before applying any other styling products (such as gels or mousse) or going to bed.
To use the foam, thoroughly rinse and dry your hands. Apply a half-capful of foam to the scalp and gently rub it in. Before styling or going to bed, let the foam completely dry.
If scalp irritation is an issue, you should avoid using minoxidil on days when you have your hair coloured or chemically treated (for example, permed).
