Usage

This drug is used to treat skin conditions like eczema, psoriasis, allergies, and rash. Mometasone reduces inflammation, itching, and redness. Mometasone is a corticosteroid of medium strength. This medication is available in cream, ointment, and lotion formulations (solution). The type of product used will be determined by your doctor based on the skin condition/area of the body being treated.

Warnings and Precaution
If irritation or sensitization occurs as a result of using Mometasone Furoate 0.1% w/w Cream, treatment should be discontinued and appropriate therapy instituted.

If an infection occurs, an appropriate antifungal or antibacterial agent should be used. If a positive response does not occur quickly, the corticosteroid should be stopped until the infection is adequately controlled.

Systemic absorption of topical corticosteroids can cause reversible hypothalamic pituitary adrenal (HPA) axis suppression, with the risk of glucocorticosteroid deficiency after treatment discontinuation. Cushing's syndrome, hyperglycemia, and glucosuria can all be caused by systemic absorption of topical corticosteroids while on treatment in some patients. Patients who apply a topical steroid to a large surface area or areas under occlusion should be evaluated for evidence of HPA axis suppression on a regular basis.
Any of the side effects associated with systemic corticosteroid use, including adrenal suppression, may occur with topical corticosteroids, particularly in infants and children.

Because of their larger skin surface-to-body mass ratios, pediatric patients may be more susceptible to systemic toxicity from equivalent doses. Because the safety and efficacy of Mometasone Furoate 0.1% w/w Cream in children under the age of two have not been established, it is not recommended for use in this age group.
